A STATEMENT FROM THE CAMPAIGN IN REGARDS TO OUR CONNECTION TO THE FETTUCINI FAMILY

Before I address my ties to the Fettucini family, I would first like to commend the press for its integral role as the fourth estate. America was founded on the principles of a free press, and up to this point, the Owl News 8 has fulfilled this role in true journalistic character.

That being said, I would like to address a particular article published yesterday in regards to my connections to the Fettucini family. Due to unvetted reporting and sketchy sourcing for the majority of the story, the journalists of the Owl News 8 mistakenly misidentified the Fettucini’s, a working-class Italian family, as the Fettucine’s, an American corporation that illegally imports environmentally-unfriendly pasta.

This false identification is predicated on the stereotype that all Italians are members of the Mafia. Stereotypes like these are exactly what my campaign aims to eliminate.

In fact, since the day I became Governor, I’ve done everything in my power to assist Mr. and Mrs. Fettucini, two working-class Italian immigrants from my home state of Ohio, to achieve the American Dream. That includes donating a portion of my salary as Governor to the Spicy Meatball, the Fettucini family restaurant, which serves many working-class Italian immigrants in Cleveland; purchasing handmade jewelry from their family-owned, local jewelry store; and establishing early-education programs in Italian neighborhoods, so that kids can get a fair head start. The only crime I have committed is the possession of pasta paraphernalia that comes with doing everything I can to assist working-class families.
