PENNSYLVANIA

The Keystone State

An Appeal to Pennsylvania

We understand that historically Pennsylvania has been part of the Coal Region; however, statistically the coal industry has decreased significantly, and opportunities for work lie in other areas. We hope to turn the obstacle of unemployment into a new opportunity for all workers in Pennsylvania. Here are a few problems we hope to solve:

  • The Coal Industry: For many decades, Pennsylvania has thrived upon coal, but over recent years the jobs in that industry have vanished, either due to automation, or because of the companies having to lay off workers. But we see this a great opportunity for Pennsylvania: green energy. It has been found that this industry will exponentially grow in coming years, and if Pennsylvania switches to manufacture things such as solar panels may become the leaders nationally. Not only does this industry have a great job potential (in terms of being able to employ many workers), but it also brings in a huge revenue.

  • Health Care: As mentioned on our website, the health care system in the US is of great importance to our campaign. We believe that by implementing universal health care through a public system, the prices would decrease significantly, while covering everyone for much more.

  • Reeducation: A big part of our education policy is focused on community colleges. We believe that they should be tuition free; therefore, if coal miners, or any other kind of worker finds him or herself without a job, they should be able to learn a new trade to get a new job. This term is coined as reeducation, and has been done in numerous placed, especially targeting coal miners. For instance, many coal miners that have lost their job in recent years, are now working on computer programming, where the employment potential is very high. Ultimately, combined with introducing and growing the green energy industry, we hope to rejuvenate the economy in Pennsylvania, so that everyone can benefit.
