OHIO

My Home State

An Appeal to Ohio

My home state of Ohio, which I represented as Governor for many years, has lots of potential. However, there are several obstacles, such as economic well-being, unemployment, health care. Especially the coal industry has been suffering; however, we want to help all those that have lost their jobs, and give them a prosperous future. We believe all obstacles can be overcome and turned into opportunities:

  • Economy: The economy is one of the most important issues to all Americans. Therefore, we plan to improve the current situation for all people of Ohio as well. Firstly, we want to revamp the tax system entirely. We believe that Keynesian economics would work best for all Americans. Not only does it help the middle class by cutting taxes for them, but it also pushes for lowering taxes on the lower class, so that they have mobility to the middle class. Additionally, we want to promote small businesses by lowering their taxes, because they are currently burdened too much compared to large corporations. Furthermore, we want the large corporations to pay their fair share. This can be achieved by closing corporate loopholes, and by restricting tax havens.

  • The Coal Industry: For many decades, Ohio has thrived upon coal, but over recent years the jobs in the industry have vanished; either due to automation or because of the companies having to lay off workers. With this though, we see a great opportunity for Ohio: green energy. It has been found that this industry will exponentially grow in coming years and if Ohio switches to manufacture things such as solar panels, this state may become national powerhouses. Not only does this industry have a great job potential (in terms of being able to employ many workers), but it also brings in a huge revenue.

  • Reeducation: A big part of our education policy is focused on community colleges. We believe that these schools should be tuition free. This can lead to many more job opportunities for working class people. For example,  if coal miners, or any other kind of worker finds him or herself without a job, they should be able to learn a new trade to get a new job. This term is coined as reeducation, and has taken effect in numerous places, especially targeting coal miners. For instance, many coal miners that have lost their job in recent years are now working on computer programming where the employment potential is very high. Ultimately, combined with introducing and growing the green energy industry, we hope to rejuvenate the economy in Ohio, thus benefiting everyone.

  • Health Care: As mentioned on our website, the health care system in the US is of great importance to our campaign. We believe that by implementing universal health care through a public system, the prices would decrease significantly, while covering many more people.
