ILLINOIS

The Prairie State

An Appeal to Illinois

Over the past few years, Illinois, and the US as a whole have been suffering economically. Pensions, taxes, and funding of public facilities, such as schools, have been in a troubling the state for a long time. Especially the aging population has led to a huge crisis in Social Security funding. However, we believe that with cooperation of the government, all these obstacles can be turned into new opportunities for a more prosperous Illinois:

  • School Funding: As in many other states, the public education has fallen behind international standards. Though it is ranked 11th nationally, there is room for improvement, which could raise many people from poverty. We hope by reinvesting in the public school system, and the after-school programs, we can provide a better and more knowledgeable experience for all students.

  • Retirement: With the baby-boomer generation aging, they are relying more and more on Social Security. Especially with the extreme shortcomings in pensions for teachers, state troopers, and many more, the need for federal assistance is important. Therefore, we propose to increase the Social Security programs (nationally), so that all retirees can enjoy a good life.

  • Taxes: As we state on our website, we want to revamp the tax system entirely. We believe that Keynesian economics would work best for all Americans. Not only does it help the middle class by cutting taxes for them, but it also pushes for lowering taxes on the lower class, so that they have mobility to the middle class.

  • The Coal Industry: For many decades, Illinois has thrived upon coal, but over recent years the jobs in the industry have vanished; either due to automation or because of the companies having to lay off workers. With this though, we see a great opportunity for Illinois: green energy. It has been found that this industry will exponentially grow in coming years and if Illinois switches to manufacture things such as solar panels, this state may become national powerhouses. Not only does this industry have a great job potential (in terms of being able to employ many workers), but it also brings in a huge revenue.
